The story is meant to create an awareness. Our likes, dislikes, our ambitions and even individual needs. In their quest to create the perfect world, and make everyone equal ( in their eyes ) many people who could not adapt, through no fault of their own, were left out in the cold, sent to the firing squad if they were caught or forced to go into hiding. This brings up a question. Is different bad ?
We are each individuals. No two of us are alike, and that is NOT a bad thing. Being different is what makes each and everyone of us special, beautiful people. This also does not mean that any one group of people is inferior to another. But a one size fits all cookie cutter society caters only to an elite few. It is very clear that there are those who would prefer that each and everyone of us was exactly the same. They figure, what works for them, or what makes them happy, should work for everyone else and that they should set some unreasonable standard for everyone else to adhere to without complaints. Another words, they want to go so far as to dictate to you what you can and cannot do, what you can and cannot have and what you can and cannot want. Being the unique individuals we are, this can NEVER work.
Living in a country like THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA we are SUPPOSED to be entitled to Life, Liberty and the Persuit of happiness. When certain authority figures in government or other influential individuals come up with ideas that attack your happiness, or in some cases your welfare, they actually show contempt for the values this great country was founded on. To even suggest some of the things publicly that I personally have heard these people say when addressing the public goes against all things American. Yet, there are those in positions of power, with ideas that have inspired me to write this book. A work of fiction, that will hopefully remain, a work of fiction and never become a reality.
Is it possible, that the only way some of these radical ideas MIGHT work ( for a little while at best ) is if certain people were taken out of society, because someone else feels they will never fit in ? Taken out of society and maybe even executed so that no one has to contend with them anymore ? All over something they have no control over ? You have to wonder. Many of the things I have heard certain people say or suggest has led me to the conclusion that these people are actually the most intolerant for someone who is different. They obviously feel that diversity in thought, is a bad thing and are blinded by what is only apparent to the naked eye. They have the inability to see inside of a person, and except what new ideas they may have. Example: My parents hated people who liked mayo on their hamburgers. Don't ask why but, so what ?!?!
One need only listen closely to the things certain authority figures say when addressing the public. It doesn't take a political science major to interpret this ideology as unAmerican and you don't have to take these statements they make out of context either as they are very open about such anti freedom ideas like banning radio shows because they question or even disagree with a certain political party or trying to make soda pops and cigarettes illegal. ( even in the soviet union you could smoke ). Don't take my word for it. Just listen to them, you know who I'm talking about too. I guess they forgot all the trouble that was generated from outlawing booze in the 1920s and 1930s. Look at what a disaster that turned out to be. And some people actually thought it was a good idea at the time. They didn't take human nature and the laws of cause and effect into account though. My fear is also all of the innocent people that will get caught in the crossfire regardless as to what their beliefs are should things get really bad. I mean, that happened quite frequently in the 1920s and 30s just like during the civil war. Stray bullets and shrapnel do not discriminate. It doesn't really matter what I think though, because there are a lot of other people out there that are not the peace loving person I am. People who would get more upset about things than me. People who are afraid of radical change. Do they have reason to be afraid ? I hope not, but I really don't know !
In a perfect world ( according to them anyway ) everyone would have all the same stuff. No one would have to work hard to achieve and someone else would make all your decisions for you, i.e. the government. Should the leadership of a country ever fall into the hands of someone who is disgruntled with democracy ( the original definition I mean ) or someone who claims to cherish freedom, but actually wants a dictatorship, the losers will be the citizens of that country, all of them ! One should really examine the motives of those who suggest ideas like, censorship, gun control or trying to tell adults what foods they can and cannot eat because they are unhealthy for some, even though our families have eaten them for generations. Where do they intend to draw the line with all these laws ? When you have more laws than you do freedoms, it aint a free country no more ! Are they going to tell me I cant watch my westerns on TV anymore, because there's violence in them ? I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled a stunt like that, knowing them.
In closing one thing I want to stress is, I agree 100 % with equal rights, equal opportunities and equal treatment regardless as to your ethnicity, skin color, gender, beliefs, religion, kin, national origin or how you like your hamburger. What I don't agree with is everyone being equally miserable or one group of people being very very unhappy and the others being not quite content with life at best. When someone else is imposing limitations to success, creating the mindset that different is bad, trying to redefine and dictate the American dream or claiming that our constitution is out of date and should no longer apply to modern America, what is to stop them from doing such a thing to make their point. What is to stop them from making their vision a nightmare for us all ? Would you really be willing to take that chance when voting ? Think about it, while you still have a choice !
